Mission

Marine Environment Division

Develop policies and work plans for the management of marine environmental quality, and marine pollution.
Provide recommendations for formulating management plans and action plans for marine environmental quality, and for marine and coastal pollution.
Prepare contingency plans, collaborate with other agencies to control and resolve any marine pollution crisis, conduct marine environmental damage assessment plan, and recommended measures for restoring the quality of marine environment impacted by pollution or by marine related incidents.
Formulate standards, measures, criteria or methodologies for the management of marine environmental quality, including pollution control at source.
Monitor and report the state of marine environmental quality and pollution that might pose a threat to the marine environment.
Develop systems, methodologies and good practices appropriate for the better management of the coastal and marine environment and pollutants.
Cooperate with international agencies on international conventions to control, prevent, and mitigate marine pollution as well as transboundary related pollution.
Provide advice and promote the development of a knowledge-base on marine water quality.
Perform other work as requested.
